CSEP SUMMER TERM NEWSLETTER

Please make a note of 4 events in the new term that you need to be aware of

 ‘Recognition’ on 17 June 2023

 Windrush Day event with Councillor Callton Young OBE on 24 June 2023

 Recognising Achievement End of Year Special Assemblies and Open Day on 15 July 2023

 Carnival Arts also on 15 July 2023


Recognition’ is a play performed by the legendary Talawa drama company. It is at Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, Croydon, CR9 1DG, at 6.00 pm. The play is based on the life of Samuel Coleridge Taylor, the great Sierra Leone heritage Classical composer who lived in Croydon 100 years ago. It is aimed at a school aged audience. We would like CSEP students and their parents to attend on 17 June 2023. We have 20 tickets available which CSEP will part-subsidise, therefore tickets will be £5 each on a first come basis. PLEASE RESPOND IMMEIATELY IF YOU WISH TO PURCHASE YOUR £5 TICKET. Further details will be sent to those attending with regards to meeting point and seats allocated.


Windrush Day’ is a National Celebration commemorating the Windrush Generation. In Croydon, Councillor Callton Young OBE is holding an event on 24 June 2023 subtitled Our Pioneers, Our Heroes, Our Contribution. CSEP students are expected to attend after Saturday School on 24 June 2023 from 3.00 to 6.00pm. It is a free event and will be held at CACFO UK at 40 Northwood Road, Thornton Heath, CR7 8HQ. We will provide transport to take the Secondary aged pupils to the event. Parents & the Primary aged pupils will meet us there. Please arrive by 3.00 pm. Finally, there will also be a later event that day for the parents.


Recognising Achievement

End of Year Special Assemblies

Open Day

are 3 events that we are holding at CSEP on 15 July 2023. This is also the last day of term

Recognising Achievement Assembly for Primary Aged Pupils that will take place at 10.00 to 11.30 am. This will involve all the primary aged pupils.

Open Day & Tour for parents of primary and secondary aged pupils will take place at 11.30 to 12.30pm.

Recognising Achievement Assembly for Secondary Aged Pupils will begin at 1.30 pm. This will involve all the secondary aged pupils.


Following this will be a presentation called Shake It Up Shakespeare at 2.30 to 3.00.


Finally, the first of the Carnival Arts Workshops will also take place on 15 July 2023 at 4.00 to 6.00 pm. Both Primary and Secondary aged pupils can attend these workshops.


Light refreshments are available between 3.00 and 3.30 pm.
