Croydon Supplementary Education Project

About Superdads

Project Summary

Superdads is a new two year project in Croydon funded by the Parenting Fund round 3 targeting fathers and potential fathers.

Superdads are community champions that are able to disseminate and support other parents.

Croydon Supplementary Education Project (CSEP) and local partners are working together to deliver a programme which will enable fathers in Croydon to make a real difference in the community.

CSEP is offering Free training to thirty (30) men to become Superdads. We will deliver a tailored range of courses, workshops, seminars and showcases aimed at parents in the community to engage them and promote greater access to the services and support available in their local area.

Superdads will be given in-depth training to offer information and support for families in Croydon mainly providing help to parents who’s children are at risk of low educational attainment levels.

The training will develop:

  • Personal parenting skills and improved parental confidence and skills through intergenerational activity
  • Mentoring techniques
  • Gang Awareness, including techniques for making effective interventions to those who are vulnerable to gang membership
  • Character building and self esteem enhancement techniques
  • Career goals and pathways
  • School Governance and Tackling Exclusion in the community

The project aims to:

  • Promote stronger family relationships using tested and proven models
  • Provide skills to enable active and positive fatherhood, with particular emphasis on how to engage more fathers to participate in their children’s learning and development
  • Provide imaginative bi-monthly activities to increase participation of fathers in family life
  • Create a network of parental support in Croydon
  • Continue improving the attitudes of fathers in the UK
