Saturday School

Key Stage 3 - Year 9

Age of students: 13 - 14 years
Year 9 students are encouraged to work hard and use skills learned to enable them to achieve good grades in SATs tests. Activities will be provided to help students build their self-esteem and confidence as independent learners. Students will learn study skills to help them with tests and exams. Opportunities will be available for students to conduct their own research. Assessments will be conducted on all students on a regular basis to ensure they are on target to achieve the expected National Curriculum level.

English (Aims and objectives)

To follow the National Curriculum, focussing on preparation for SATs, supporting students in speaking, listening, writing and comprehension.

Maths (Aims and objectives)

To follow the National Curriculum encouraging students to carry out problem solving, and other mathematical tasks.

Expectations

Students are expected to behave well and have a positive attitude to learning to support their mainstream education.

Fun and enjoyment

Students work in groups and have access to a computer to prepare presentations, work will be displayed to celebrate and acknowledge achievement.
