In Year 4 we try to build the students self-esteem and celebrate their work by displaying them throughout the classroom.
Skills students have learned from Year 3 are brought forward to Year 4. Students are supported through all aspects of the English curriculum. Listening, writing, reading and comprehension skills are supported and developed. Topics are discussed before comprehension and grammar work takes place to ensure students grasp and understand instructions to the task. The cultural identity of students are celebrated and acknowledged.
Students are supported at their level of understanding, working together and receiving extra support where needed. Students work on problem solving, practical work and data handling. Mental arithmetic is conducted each week, a common theme is ensuring students know their times tables.
Students are expected to arrive at Saturday School with a positive attitude to learning. Students are expected to read regularly at home.
Students enjoy seeing the work they have produced and the progress they have made.
