Key Stage 1 - Year 1 and 2

Age of students: 5 – 6 and 6 - 7 years
In Year 1 and 2 the students have a good sense of humour and are well on their way to building self confidence.

English (Aims and objectives)

To follow the National Curriculum through speaking and listening, reading and writing activities. We provide:

  • Opportunities for group as well as class discussions
  • Paired reading and adult supported reading
  • Opportunities for the development and extension of writing skills through topic work such as the life of Mary Seacole
  • Supporting the preparation of pupils for the end of Key Stage 1 assessments in English

Maths (Aims and objectives)

  • To follow the National Curriculum through topic work
  • Emphasis on practical supported activities
  • Relating activities to real life situations
  • Supporting the preparation of pupils for the end of Key Stage 1 assessments in Maths

Expectations

We hope that students and their parents will utilise the professional expertise that is offered to them so that our input really makes a difference in their day to day school lives. The results of which should make our students feel more confident and willing to participate in activities at school.

Fun and enjoyment

At CSEP we present ourselves as positive role models for our children as teachers as well as parents. We participate in, as well as encourage the parents and children to participate in activities organised by CSEP. Together we experience the benefits of learning inside and outside of the classroom.
