Summer Uni is a London-wide project that aims to

- Raise achievement and
- Increase educational opportunities for young people in London.
CSEP will be running five FREE workshops/ courses as a part of Croydon Summer Uni.
Back to Back – Summer Black History Course
Date: Tuesday 5th August, Tuesday 12th August, Tuesday 19th August, Tuesday 26th August, Tuesday 2nd September, Saturday 6th September 2008.
Time: 12.00 – 14.00
Age: 8 – 25 years
- An introductory 6-week “Black History Summer Camp,” which will be a fun and interactive way to increase your understanding of Black History and Heritage.
- Learn more detailed facts about ancient African civilisations! Ask the questions about things you always wanted to know!
- This is a great opportunity to improve your knowledge and enjoy the summer.
- Weekly workshops will cover topics such as: “Black Heroes, Heroines and Legends,” “African Civilisations,” “Culture and LanguAges,” “African Art & Craft,” and “History of Trade and Commerce.”
Black History Trails – Walking Trail

- Walking trails; Black History walking trail with historian Steve Martin.
- Discover London’s past by exploring the city streets, historical buildings & feats of engineering, while you are told over 500 years of historical events and stories that have shaped the modern city.
Heritage Skywalkers – Stilt Performance Walking
Date: Saturday 26th July, Saturday 2nd August, Saturday 9th August, Saturday 16th August, Saturday 30th August, Saturday 6th September, Saturday 13th September, Saturday 20th September, Saturday 27th September, Saturday 4th October, Saturday 11th October.
Time: 8.45 – 11.15
Age: 8 – 25 years
- Heritage Skywalkers is a 10-week Stilts Walking project celebrating black Heritage through performance, art and dance.
- There will also be a performance at the end to showcase the troupe’s achievements.
- Participants will learn stilts craftsmanship, stilts walking, costume design, choreography and street performance, among other things.
Investment Club – Financial Markets and Careers
Date: Tues 5th August, Wed 6th August, Thurs 7th August, Tues 12th August, Wed 13th August, Thurs 14th August, Tues 19th August, Wed 20th August, Thurs 21st August, Tues 26th August, Wed 27th August, Thurs 28th August.
Time: 10.30 – 13.00
Age: 8 – 19 years
- Investment Club is a 4-week (3 days per week) schedule of workshops, activities and visits to important financial institutions.
- Young people will understand how the financial markets work and how to make good investments, either as a future career, or as a hobby.
- The aim is to improve financial literacy and increase understanding of how UK financial markets work.
Westenders to Eastenders – Black History River Trail

- Boat trail; Black History boat trail with historian Steve Martin.
- Discover London’s past by exploring along the banks of the River Thames while you are told over 500 years of historical events and stories that have shaped the modern city.
