Pacemakers is a Mentoring project that has been running since 2004 for those young people that are most in need of one to one assistance in making life changing decisions in situations they are currently facing.

The Pacemakers programme is for those seeking to:

• Achieve more in academics
• Create career plans
• Plan a path in life
• Increase aspirations
• Develop decision making
• Develop life skills
• Self evaluation
• Communicate more clearly
• Vision realisation
• Enabling life change
• Positive affirmations
• Raise self esteem
• Deal with Gang issues
• Reduce their fear of crime

The young person is matched with a suitably trained community mentor and fortnightly meetings arranged in our building at a convenient time. The sessions are designed to help the individual to progress at their own pace and to use advocacy as a means to greater empowerment.

Croydon Supplementary Education Project (CSEP) is determined to provide young people in Croydon with the support and attention they need. As one of the leading Supplementary Schools in Croydon established since 1982, we have experience in assisting young people. CSEP is extending this service to all young people in Croydon through the support of Croydon Council, The Local Network Fund and the Croydon Police.

Free Mentor training

Croydon Supplementary Education Project (CSEP) is continuing the highly successful PACEMAKERS Mentoring Programme as part of our commitment to strengthening education and support for youth in the community.

We are currently recruiting the next set of Mentors from within the CSEP community network. This is a highly rewarding role in the community which is essential to the development of our next generation and we need your contribution to continue the high level of success we have had with the young people in Croydon that are benefiting from Mentoring.

All we ask is for you to volunteer a few hours of your time each fortnight to help a young person to develop and realise their goals and achieve more in school or their life.

In return free specialist training will be offered, therefore no previous mentoring experience is required, as we value your unique input into making this programme beneficial to the young person.
