Family Caribbean Family History Day

This year the students from CSEP were specially invited by The National Archives located in Kew to take part in the young people’s workshops as part of it’s annual Caribbean Family History Day.


Students left CSEP by coach at 8.30am in the morning and on arrival embarked on a full programme of history activities including filming by Patrick Vernon on behalf of Every Generation
Shango Baku – actor & performer acted out a realistic and convincing portray of Olaudah Equiano – the students were enthralled and ears pricked up to be taken back in time to experience the life of Olaudah Equiano (especially in full costume).
Professional dancer Abrafi conducted a dance workshop and was impressed by CSEP’s talented dancers and the speed at which they learnt the routines.
Beyonder facilitated a creative writing workshop and discovered many budding CSEP writers.
Historian Steve Martin led a session about Inspirational People……. and then who should walk in ?………………..ex athlete now TV sports presenter and star of the BBC programme “Who Do You Think You Are” Colin Jackson……… who was immediately quizzed by many questions from excited CSEP students he also signed autographs and took pictures with the students.
