CSEP has used both a Single Regeneration Budget Grant provided through Croydon People’s Housing Association and also grants from the Community Chest & Community Builders Fund (Croydon Voluntary Action) to refurbish and redevelop disused space in our building to create community resource rooms, making them fully functional (including Audiovisual & Information Technology equipment and Wireless Internet Access).

As fully equipped meeting room facility The Croydon BME Resource Meeting Room and Library is made available to community groups wishing to hold important meetings but who do not have their own designated space and those that may have to rent space at commercial rates.
CSEP also benefits by having use of the facility during the daytime and at weekends when the Saturday school needs to have meetings (i.e. AGMs, Management and Executive Committee Meetings as well as regular workshops or presentations to Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) parents or students). With a capacity of twelve 12 people seated around a table or between twenty (20) if seated in rows
Helping BME communities in Croydon:
The Croydon BME Resource Library and Meeting Room was set up to assist BME communities to explore their history, their cultures and their traditions, while promoting greater understanding of cultural diversity and racial harmony. It is a small library equipped with specifically chosen BME reading material & provides access to the Internet.
The Croydon BME Resource Meeting Room will compliment BME Resource Library (which is adjacent), reflecting cultural diversity, overtime some of the network library materials will be displayed in the Resource Room to encourage its various users to learn about different BME cultures(e.g. literature, maps, posters, facts & figures about other Nations).
The Croydon BME Resource Meeting Room will also be used to deliver workshops arranged as apart of the range of activities carried out by CSEP. These workshops will be particularly beneficial to members in the community in Croydon.
CSEP also plan to use the Croydon BME Resource Meeting Room to carry out activities such as the annual careers day presentations, which are aimed at the BME students and young people that attend the Project, however if a suitable space was developed the intention is to have the event more often and encourage attendance from other youths in Croydon.
