All members* of staff, volunteers and parents have a responsibility to be aware of Croydon Supplementary Education Projects (CSEP) Child Protection Guidelines. CSEP fully recognises the contribution it can make to protect and support children.
The purpose of this child protection policy is to ensure CSEP’s members adhere to a code of conduct in line with the protection and wellbeing of all children who attend the project. The policy is to protect everyone involved in working with children. This ensures that child protection concerns and referrals may be handled sensitively, professionally and in ways which support the needs of the child.
The policy involves recognising, recording and reporting signs of child abuse and/or neglect to the Operations Manager, Educational Development Officer or Administration Manager.
All children attending CSEP have the right to enjoy all the activities the project provides in a safe, stimulating and caring environment where they are encouraged to talk and are listened to and know there are adults whom they can approach if they are worried. CSEP wish all children to express themselves freely without fear of intimidation and their contributions are respected and valued.
The child protection policy will be monitored and evaluated on a regular basis by the Educational Development Officer and the Administration Manager, who are the designated child protection officers. All areas will be carefully implemented with the knowledge and agreement of the Management Committee.
Details of CSEP’s child protection policy will be located in the hallway clearly visible for children, parents, staff, volunteers and visitors to see.
*Members = staff, volunteers and parents
All staff, volunteers and parents working with children at CSEP will be asked to complete a CRB form. An Enhanced Disclosure will be requested.
Enhanced Disclosure
Enhanced Disclosures will be requested for positions that involve a greater degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults. For example positions that requires regular contact with, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children and young people.
If members have received a clear CRB without any disclosures within 2 months of commencing employment or volunteering duties at CSEP, this will be deemed acceptable. Sight of the original CRB certificate must be seen by the designated child protection officers before this decision can be made.
Requests for CRB’s will be made through the CRB’s umbrella body.
