Project Summary

A new Croydon Supplementary Education Project initiative that offers the community an opportunity to participate in a range of free interactive intergenerational learning activities for ‘understanding and remembering slavery’.

Working with Historians, Researchers, Lecturers, Archives & Museums to work with students, service users and the local community during an eighteen month project via four strands of :

  • Introductory Lectures
  • Themed Workshops
  • Showcases
  • Heritage Trails

By exploring the key Learning Outcomes of:

  • How the “Transatlantic Slave Trade” began
  • The major players in the trade: “Movers & Shakers”
  • The beneficiaries of the trade: “Triangle Effect”
  • How the Trade was abolished: “The British & African Abolitionists”
  • Today’s Traditions & Customs that have evolved from Transatlantic Slavery
